How To Give Your Car A Deep Clean How To Give Your Car A Deep Clean 22 August 2014

Just like your home, your car can benefit from a deep clean every once in a while! Deep cleaning your car doesn’t have to be a huge chore, and it doesn’t have to take up too much of your time either! If you want to incorporate a proper car clean into your cleaning routine then here are some tips and tricks to help get you started! 1)    Remove any rubbish.Begin by working through your car and getting rid of any rubbish that you’ve been holding onto. From receipts to take-away food containers, your car can and will collect a lot of junk over time so it’s important that you find the time to clear it out every once in a while! Don’t forget to sort through your glove compartment too! You should also take this time to check the tyres, exhaust and underside of your car to ensure that there’s nothing stuck or lodged where it shouldn’t be! 2)    Vacuum and remove dirt. You can now move on to the vacuuming. Start by removing your car mats and flapping them out against a hard surface to lift dirt. Vacuum underneath the mats, replace them and then vacuum the mats themselves to see great results. A plug-in vacuum will give you the results that you need, but if messing around with extension leads and wires is too much hassle for you, opt for a handheld vacuum cleaner instead! It’s a good idea to invest in a cheap model that you can store in your car at all times. This will encourage you to clean up crumbs and mess when they happen as opposed to letting them build up over time! 3)    Clean your interior and exterior mirrors.Take a glass cleaning spray and a clean cloth and polish both your inside and outside mirrors. Doing this regularly will keep your mirrors exceptionally clean and safe for you and your family, and you’ll be surprised at how much cleaner this can make your car appear! 4)    Polishing leather seats. If you have leather seats in your car then try using a leather cleaning solution or polish to ensure that they always look their best. Always read the instructions on the packaging before use, as misusing products like these can cause damages. Test it on an inconspicuous area of the seat before using it to ensure that it’s not going to tarnish or sully the leather in any way! 5)    Cleaning fabric seats. You can clean your fabric seats with anything from a fabric stain removal product to a mixture of lemon juice and warm water! Most fabric seats will handle any cleaning products suitable for fabrics, but as with the leather seats, test any products on an unseen area to avoid disaster happening in your car! 6)    Cleaning the outside of your car.If you aren’t a fan of car washes then why not try cleaning your car at home? Choose a mild day rather than a warm one, as too much heat will instantly dry soapy mixtures, leaving them to smear and mark your car. Use a windscreen wiper and clean, soapy water to rinse your car and buff away marks with a gentle cleaning cloth. Cleaning your car by hand may take time unless you have the proper equipment, so if this is a habit that you want to get in to then it’s worth investing in the right tools!
